Your body and mind, just like the smallest living cell, the planet's ecosystem and the cosmos itself, are designed to be in balance and to self-correct when not. In terms of human physiology, this process of maintaining and restoring balance can be seen in the homeostatic response. Your physical body and mind, your ability to think and emote, are innately designed to achieve, maintain and regain balance when it's lost. In other words, to maintain and restore health and function. Even when presented with a significant challenge, like a serious injury or illness, the body-mind has the power to restore as much balance, as much health and function, as possible. Its ability to adapt and find "work arounds" is nothing short of amazing.
So why is the experience of physical pain and difficulty moving as we desire, stress and anxiety, lack of mental and emotional wellbeing, illness and disease, and a lack of vitality and overall quality of life so prevalent? Because you are unconsciously blocking your ability to rebalance, your own homeostatic response. You already always have the ability to restore health, fitness, happiness and peace. You just have to learn to Let Go of all the things you're doing that block this response, that are actually the cause of your suffering, both in body and mind.
It helps to understand the insights that have come from the evolutionary sciences, especially Cultural Evolution and Biological Evolution. Humans have radically changed the environment in which we live, physically, mentally and spiritually. This rapid and radical change has challenged our capacity to stay balanced. In so many ways our Cultural Evolution has run over our Biological Evolution. We sit instead of squatting, and we sit for long periods of time, as opposed to moving around frequently, and usually under constant stress and anxiety. We rarely walk but drive, more sitting and more stress. Our lives have become so compartmentalized that we don't know how to eat, hydrate and nourish ourselves appropriately. But we can change this massive effect. We can learn, actually remember, how to Let Go of "doing", especially thinking, and allow the natural energy that flows through our environment and the cosmos to work its magic, to bring our lives back into balance. To optimize our quality of life so we can live healthy, fit, happy and at peace.
